Computer Programs
Personally

I like to keep up some basic skills in a few of my favorite languages like Delphi, Pascal and Java. I enjoy seeing that some of my old shareware is still around:  KaPian for DOS  & KaPian for Windows (Chinese flash cards) and ESPTest (only available in DOS.  Just as the most of the books I read over the years are in the dusty corners of my garage, so the other languages I studied at college and worked with while programming for the state are in the dusty corners of my memory.

History of Personal Computing

I offered educational computer programs of the highest quality, for the times. In hopes of giving student tools that would help them achieve their potential. This meant not only presently information to study but also testing the students abilities. By providing a safe, non-threatening environment the computer provides an excellent way to grow in self-confidence. So it can be a key to even greater accomplishments in the future.

These programs can offer some insight to what it was like to use the Personal Computer during the early 1990's -- so they are a sort of History of Personal Computing. These old programs actually still run and are available for download along with a PDF version of the manuals.

There was a time (more than 10 years ago now) when there was no problem printing the two manuals. The standard format for Shareware manuals was a ".DOC" file that could just be "printed" to a "standard" printer. But all that changed. First the ".DOC" extension was grabbed up by Microsoft and no longer meant an ASCII text file like it did back then. Then printing got a lot more complicated -- with drivers etc. It was no longer just a matter of making sure you have set "Graphics on" with a dip switch in back of your printer. Then there were all kinds of printers not just an Epson like before.

The computer still offers a great opportunity to learn at you own pace and in privacy either in your own home or at your school's learning center. Here we offer some computer programs that will help those who want to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about the Chinese language or Parapsychology.  And you can also get an idea of what it was like to use a personal computer during the days of DOS in the late 1980's and early 1990's.  Have fun.
